Refurbished Buildings built in the 1960′s. New roofs have been insulated. Have begun process of adding storm windows for energy efficiency.
Organic Mattresses
Montfair Resort features Savvy RestTM organic mattresses and pillows in our cottages, produced in our own backyard here in Crozet, Virginia.

Energy Star Appliances
We purchased a Energy Star Samsung High Effiency Sanitizing Washing Machine for all of Montfair’s Laundry and A Energy Star Whirl Pool Dryer in Spring of 2009! We love our washer and dryer!
We buy Energy Star appliances as we replace all old appliances.
We recycle glass, plastic 1 & 2, and cans.
All our laundry is washed with BI-O-Kleen Laundry Detergent Powder Free & Clear Unscented. Made in the USA.
Fair Trade Products
We supply Organic, Fair-trade, Shade Grown locally roasted coffee, teas and spices.
We supply and use non-chlorinated recycled paper towels, coffee filters, & toilet paper, as well as recycled paper for all printing and xeroxing.
Provide Ecological Dishwashing liquid by Ecover, no petrol chemicals, 100% biodegradable and we use as many eco-cleaners as possible including Ecover General Cleaner.
Green topic, Conservation magazines and educational eco-literature as well as art, literature and social issues. Including: Audubon, E, the Environmental Magazine, Plenty Magazine, The Sun and Utne Reader.

We joined our local Dominion Electric Virginia Green Power Program certified by Green- e Energy. Our Office, Lodge and Cotttages now get their power from a number of renewable energy facilities featuring wind and biomass. We are hoping they will aslo support more solar energy development! Future Green Practice Goals
Eventually generation of hydro-power from our lake overflow. This will happen when we replace the old overflow with new piping within 10 years.

Replace A-frame floor with renewable cork flooring!
Building Materials
Our lumber is often purchased from Green Resources of Virginia (434.977.0934). All lumber is sustainably harvested from Virginia and solar kiln dried.
We used Envirosafe Plus wood to rebuild our deck. This is borate treated wood, a greener choice than regular pressure treated woods.
We Support our local Nature Neutral Store.
